Pen y Dre High School is very proud of the work that the school carries out in promoting gender equality and healthy relationships in education and are truly thrilled and honoured that their work has helped shape new national guidance.

Professor Emma Renold, who has been working with the school alongside her Cardiff University team, shared with the school the following comments:

"I thought you would be delighted to share with the school and wider community, that the story of the Year 10 girls' involvement in the 'relationship matters' project has been included as a key example of good practice in the Welsh Government's new guide to "a whole education approach to violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence in wales". They have a full 2 page spread, with photos and narrative (see pages 9 and 10).

This is a perfect case study to evidence and showcase the amazing work of the school, staff and students in developing PSE and Safeguarding practice, not only for Pen Y Dre, but Wales wide. I have attached the full document which was released today (the weblinks are below) and also some information about the new STARTER (safe to act, right to raise and engage) project we are about to begin with the school to take this work forward."

We thank Emma and the Year 10 girls for their amazing contribution to this important area of school and community life.
